Greg Lange, MS
President & CEO
Greg is an experienced business leader with expertise in business strategy, medical software, imaging, clinical registries, medical device regulations, and product commercialization. He believes that it is a privilege to help companies navigate the path from idea to commercialization and takes that responsibility seriously. He is equally passionate about creating great teams and companies.
He came to Simbex from M2S, where he oversaw Software Development, R&D, Sales, Quality and Regulatory, Operations. From 2010 to 2016, he was President and CEO and eventually helped sell the company in partnership with the private-equity owners, Altaris Capital Partners.
Outside of Simbex, Greg has been on the Board of Trustees at Alice Peck Day Hospital, for the past seven years, acting as Chair from 2019 – 2022.
He also helped found the Medtech Collaborative, a group focused on building a thriving medtech ecosystem in Northern New England and chairs Annual conference committee. He also serves as a member of the External Collaborative Panel for the Limb Loss and Preservation Registry and is on the board of TruVue Analytics, a healthcare data analytics company.
Greg has a master’s in biomechanics from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and spent much of his early career in orthopedic and biomechanics research and clinical applications.
Greg lives in Lyme, New Hampshire with his wife Heidi and their two children. When not at Simbex, you can find Greg reading a good book, listening to a podcast, clearing trails near his home, nordic skiing, cycling, running or hiking.
Amaris Ajamil, PhD, RAC
Director of Quality and Regulatory Affairs
Amaris leads the Quality Assurance and Regulatory Affairs team at Simbex, providing regulatory compliance and quality product development oversight including regulatory strategy, usability, risk analysis, verification & validation activities, auditing, and continuous process improvements. Amaris has worked in the medical device and consumer health product development field with deep vertical market experience covering pain management, electrical stimulation, wound healing/prevention, and rehabilitation and assistive technologies. Amaris is a strong believer in user-centric design that delivers safe and effective therapies.
Amaris holds a doctorate in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Miami and a B.S. in Biomedical Engineering from Tulane University, specializing in orthopedic research. She holds a Regulatory Affairs Credential (RAC) in Medical Devices.
Angela Presley, PhD
Director, Commercialization Services
Angela leads the Commercialization Services team at Simbex, providing guidance and strategic consulting to MedTech innovators who are in the process of bringing their product to market. She specializes in assessing the product viability from the perspective of care pathway, clinical workflow, and reimbursement considerations. She also provides expertise in literature review and market assessment to understand the opportunity landscape in the context of the larger medical ecosystem.
Her work at Simbex has included involvement in the NIH-funded DRIVEN Accelerator Hub and the NIH-funded Center for Translation of Rehabilitation Engineering Advances and Technology (TREAT). Her background includes a PhD in Rehabilitation Science with research emphasis on the impact of orthoses on the biomechanics of gait, posture, and balance.
She serves as a member of the Board of Directors for the Board of Certification/Accreditation International. Her past career includes clinical experience in a variety of settings including sports medicine, orthopedics, and orthotics and prosthetics.
Vice President of Sales and Marketing
Chad is a sales and marketing leader with decades of experience building technologies, brands, and businesses. He is skilled at identifying and executing on market opportunities for a variety of technologies and industries.
Prior to Simbex, Chad was responsible for business development and marketing at Mechanical Solutions, a premier mechanical engineering firm providing services to the rotating machinery industry. He helped bring several technologies from concept to the global marketplace, including VibVue®, a game-changing video-based vibration analysis tool.
Previous employers also include Schlumberger, NextEra Energy, and Octave Communications (now Polycom). He holds an MBA from the F.W. Olin School of Business at Babson College, an undergraduate degree in chemical engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute, and is a Certified Licensing Professional. When not helping innovators succeed, he enjoys dad stuff, history, canoeing, and testing ice cream recipes.
Pradeep Bokinala, MS, MBA
VP, Engineering Services
As Vice President of Engineering, Pradeep Bokinala leads the Engineering teams at Simbex. He has 20+ years of experience in developing software applications and leading teams in Healthcare, IoT applications, Mapping, Enterprise application domains. Pradeep’s technical expertise includes SaaS, Cloud, Mobile and Web apps, IoT, APIs, data gathering, processing, visualization, process automation, and quality. Prior to Simbex, Pradeep held leadership roles at TomTom (a global mapping company) and Dartmouth Health (NH based healthcare provider) building and growing sustainable teams.
Additionally, he has international working experience in India and Amsterdam, NL. Pradeep is passionate about applying his expertise to developing people and products. Prior to Simbex, Pradeep held management roles at TomTom and Dartmouth Health. Pradeep is passionate about applying his expertise to developing people and products. Pradeep holds a MS in Software Applications from Nagarjuna University and a Master of Business Administration degree in leadership from Franklin Pierce University. Director of People & Culture and Chief of Staff
Josh Lamoureux leads people and culture initiatives at Simbex and Salona, and is passionate about helping people and organizations realize potential, become motivated, and achieve success. Josh works alongside our employees and leaders to promote our team’s core values and push our goals to completion.
He holds a masters degree in Leadership Science and multiple certifications in human resources and coaching.
Sean Yu, PhD, MBA
Prior to joining Simbex, Sean has served as Project Director on NIH-funded research programs and recently as a Senior Product Architect and BioTech Lead at Garmin International for almost a decade. He is a seasoned product developer and technologist with over twenty years of R&D experience in industry and academia combined.
With expertise in wearables, biomechanics, human physiology, and algorithm development, Sean has architected and developed medical devices, consumer electronics, and differentiating solutions with human-centered focuses and evidence-based approach. He has led and contributed to several projects from ideation, system design, to launching them to the market. With multiple provisional and granted patents, Sean has delivered biomechanics-based wellness programs, algorithmic solutions for wellness monitoring, software as services, and consumer-facing wearable products.
Sean holds a Ph.D degree in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, a Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering (Solid Mechanics concentration), and a Master of Business Administration degree (Marketing concentration) from the University of Kansas. Leading a suburban life with his wife and two children 30 minutes south from Kansas City, Kansas, Sean enjoys reading, running, outdoor activities, and traveling with his family.
Jeff Chu, MS
Jeff is a seasoned medical device developer and technologist. During his time as CTO, he was directly responsible for the creation and development of nascent technologies from ideation through transfer to manufacturing at Simbex and delivered multiple products to market based on a wide spectrum of technologies in both the medical device and consumer marketplaces. His deep experience in software, hardware, and algorithm development coupled with his biomechanical systems expertise helps realize innovative solutions that seamlessly integrate with the consumer. He has served as Principal Investigator on several federally funded research programs from both the NIH and Department of Defense in the areas of rehabilitation, blast, and impact biomechanics.
His work has received national recognition from Time Magazine, Sybase, Edison Awards, and Computerworlds. Prior to Simbex, Jeff worked as an advance concepts consultant for several companies in the sporting goods industry and taught graduate courses in the areas of clinical biomechanics and computer modeling. He holds 8 patents, with 6 patents pending.
Richard Greenwald, PhD
Simbex Founder & Advisor
Rick is an entrepreneur and biomedical engineer with over 25 years of experience in building companies, developing novel technologies, and motivating the process of technology commercialization in the medical device industry. His expertise includes technology and intellectual property development, evaluation and licensing, strategic financing, and business development.
As founder, Rick developed Simbex into a recognized leader in the development of biofeedback and data acquisition products for the medical and rehabilitation industries, and now serves with Salona Global, Simbex’ parent company.
He is a Fellow of the National Academy of Inventors (NAI) and the American Institute of Medical and Biological Engineering (AIMBE). Rick serves as a Trustee for the Visiting Nurse and Hospice of Vermont and New Hampshire and is on the Board of Trustees of the New Hampshire Academy of Science.
He serves on the Board of Trustees for the Visiting Nurse and Hospice for Vermont and New Hampshire (VNH) and the New Hampshire Academy of Science (NHAS). Rick is a fellow of the National Academy of Inventors (NAI) and the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering (AIMBE), and holds 20 US Patents, with 5 patents pending
Rick holds a Biomedical Engineering PhD degree from Duke University, a Master of Science in Engineering from Thayer School of Engineering and received his PhD from the University of Utah.
Gene Zylkuski is a hands on technical executive with significant experience in product management, technology selection and architecture, product development (including setting up and managing offshore development), pre-sales support and services management. Most recently Gene has served as a senior advisor to BrainBox, Homecare Homebase, and as a member of the Technical Board of Advisors to MK Capital. Prior to that Gene served as the CEO of Optivio, a technology company that used off thwe shelf wearables to establish individual stress profiles and establish event and environmental factors to the onset of stress. He has successfully led teams across six industries including government, knowledge management/AI, e-learning, marketing, digital health, and home healthcare.
Gene has worked in both start-up and late stage companies bringing applications to the market to help industries increase human capital and knowledge exchange. He has been an integral part of the successful exists for companies such as CellTrak, QuickPivot, SmartSource, OutStart, Servicesoft, and Broadbase. Gene holds a M.S. in Operations Research from University of New Haven, a M.S. (equivalent) in Nuclear Engineering from the U.S. Navy, and a B.S. in Physics from University of Lowell.
Xan Abess, MD
Xan Abess is a practicing anesthesiologist (Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center) and Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine at Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth. He is the Director of Quality & Safety for the Department of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine at DHMC, and is the Founder and Director of IDEA Lab (Innovation Development and Entrepreneurship in Anesthesia). Xan serves as a clinical advisor for Simbex because of his wide range of clinical experience (private practice, academic medicine, and military medicine) as well as having previously started his own medical device company. He understands well the struggles and challenges of medical device development, fundraising, grant writing, research and regulatory requirements, intellectual property protections, and more. Xan considers himself to be a good listener and communicator – able to translate between engineers, clinicians, and business developers.
More importantly, Xan truly enjoys helping others to achieve their development objectives. A prior US Navy Flight Surgeon, Xan holds a bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering from The Catholic University of America and a Doctor of Medicine degree from the Medical University of South Carolina.
